The inaugural meeting of the Council of European Business Associations and Chambers in Serbia (CEBAC) was held in Belgrade, focused on the election of the Secretary General and the future steps of the Council.
Sanja Ivanić, General Director of the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, one of the 13 founding signatories, was unanimously elected as the Secretary General of the newly established Council for a one-year term. Ivanić’s role will be to represent the Council, communicate its decisions, positions, and proposals.
The meeting also outlined the upcoming strategic directions for the Council’s work. Three committees will be formed shortly: ESG, Transport, and HR. These committees will address the current needs of member companies of each signatory to discuss these three topics and formulate joint positions and proposals to the Serbian institutions.
As a reminder, the Council of European Business Associations and Chambers in Serbia (CEBAC) was established on May 14th with the signing of the founding Memorandum by 13 European business organizations in Serbia. CEBAC aims to advocate for the further development and improvement of the legal, institutional, and competitive business framework for the successful operation of all companies operating in Serbia, both those with international and local capital. Additionally, it will strive to further enhance trade relations between European countries and Serbia, with the goal of mutual prosperity, and advocate for measures that would strengthen cooperation between the Serbian market and other European markets.
The European business organizations that are signatories include: the Belgian-Serbian Business Association, British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Hellenic Business Association of Serbia, Dutch-Serbian Business Association, Croatian Business Club, Italian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Nordic Business Alliance, Polish-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Slovenian Business Club, Swiss-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, and the Association of Italian Industrialists Confindustria Serbia.
