AgriSerbia, a subsidiary of the Ferrero group, is celebrating a decade of spearheading sustainable hazelnut cultivation in Serbia. Established in 2014, the company marked its anniversary by discussing its long-term vision with institutional and private stakeholders.
The collaboration commenced with a Memorandum of Understanding between Ferrero and the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management. This strategic partnership aimed to develop local hazelnut plantations, improve nursery production of certified trees, and encourage the adoption of modern farming techniques among Serbian farmers.
Significant achievements have been highlighted over the past ten years. AgriSerbia’s pilot 600-hectare farm has reached full production, with over 3,500 hectares of new hazelnut orchards established by local farmers and investors. Last year, these efforts culminated in an inaugural export of 2,000 tonnes of premium hazelnuts, with projections to reach up to 8,000 tonnes annually within the next three to four years.
This initiative not only positions Serbia to become a leading global producer but also reinforces Ferrero’s long-term commitment to enhancing the hazelnut value chain worldwide. The event signals a unified approach to achieving global excellence in hazelnut production, setting a benchmark for future agricultural collaborations.
