Subrata Bhattacharjee (54) graduated in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, before joining the Indian Foreign Service in 1989.
His diplomatic assignments include postings in Bonn, Lusaka, Frankfurt, Ankara, Chittagong and Cairo. From 2012 to 2012 he served as Indian Ambassador in Guatemala City, concurrently accredited to the Republic of El Salvador and the Republic of Honduras.
Prior to his arrival Serbia, Mr Bhattacharjee was Additional Secretary (Central Europe) at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi – a position he held until August 2018, when he officially became the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Serbia.
Mr Bhattacharjee, a married father of two daughters, speaks Hindi, Bengali, English and German.
