Mr. Michael Shannon has been selected as the new General Manager of Hyatt Regency Belgrade. Michael, a hotelier with over 25 years of experience, joins the hotel from Hyatt’s regional office in Zurich where he held the position of Regional Vice President, Hotel Openings, responsible for the oversight and ensuring the commercial success of Hyatt’s new and re-branded hotels in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Southwest Asia region.

Highlights of his 4 years in the role include the openings of the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi, Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa, Andaz Vienna, Andaz Munich, Great Scotland Yard Hotel in London, Park Hyatt Doha, re-branding of the Hotel du Palais in Biarritz and many others.

Michael, a Canadian national, began his hotel career in Germany and has since lived in 12 countries working in various operational roles including Divisional Director and General Manager assignments across EAME and Australia. Prior to his time at Hyatt, Michael spent almost 22 years at Starwood Hotels & Resorts serving as General Manager with Sheraton, W Hotels and Le Meridien brands before becoming Director of New Builds & Transitions EAME, where he was specifically tasked with managing the Luxury Brands Group openings in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and, eventually, all nine Starwood brands across the Middle East region.

In his current role, Michael is responsible for the hotel’s strategic direction and all aspects of its operation. The hotel will continue to provide guests with memorable experiences and uphold the traditions that Hyatt Regency Belgrade is so proud of, while striving to further enhance service quality and brand value into the future.

Michael is delighted to have the opportunity to move to the Hyatt Regency Belgrade after many years on the road in his previous corporate role. He looks forward to contributing to the future success of the hotel in addition to discovering Belgrade and Serbia.
