The Swiss Cooperation Strategy Serbia 2018-2021 is a continuation of the long-standing engagement in a support of Serbian reform agenda.

As a sign of its commitment to the Swiss-Serbian partnership, Switzerland has been uninterruptedly present in the country since 1991.

Until now, the financial support amounts to €350 million.

The new Strategy 2018-2021 focuses on three fields: Governance, Economic development and Sustainable Energy. During the next four years, Switzerland will commit €95 million, which is 10% in comparison to the previous strategy.

Swiss-Serbian cooperation relies on mutual trust, ownership and active involvement of all partners. The strategy has been elaborated in close collaboration with the Serbian partners. Furthermore, the strategic document, developed jointly between by the Swiss Agency for Development (SDC) and Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), makes use of core competencies of both institutions and works on all governmental levels.

Swiss cooperation is aligned with European accession priorities, relevant Serbian laws and strategies, as well as universal 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Swiss Cooperation Office, part of the Swiss Embassy in Serbia, is managing the cooperation program. As a non-EU country, Switzerland has over the past years uniquely positioned itself to address key challenges that Serbia is facing. With its flexibility and tailor-made response, Swiss interventions are based on the understanding that the sustainable effort is required to accelerate the pace and quality of reforms and their implementation for the benefit of all citizens.

More in the interview with Ursula Läubli, Director Of The Swiss Cooperation Office Serbia, published in April issue.
