The first hotel of the internationally renowned Mercure brand has opened in Serbia. Mercure Belgrade Excelsior offers its guests 73 rooms, a restaurant and a conference room. There are more than 750 Mercure hotels in 58 countries worldwide.

“The arrival of this prestigious brand to our market will contribute to the promotion of the capital and the whole of Serbia”, said Tijana Maljković, secretary of the Association of Tourism of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.

The hotel in Belgrade was opened on 18 October, and Mercure is a recognisable French brand of the AccorHotels group. As pointed out at the opening ceremony, the business policy of this hotel brand is to cooperate in all markets exclusively with local food and beverage distributors.

“As the capital of two million people and a top-class tourist destination, Belgrade is one of the oldest European cities, always interesting for tourists and many visitors. According to the Tourist Organisation of Belgrade, a total of 103,956 tourists visited the capital in August, or 21% more than in the same month last year”, said Tijana Maljković, secretary of the Association of Tourism of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia at the opening ceremony.

“In 2014 there were 76 hotels in Belgrade, in 2015 90, and in 2016 96, the majority of which were 3-star and 4-star hotels. Today in Belgrade we have 98 hotels, 4 of which are 5-star hotels (Hyatt, Square 9, Metropol and St. Ten), 52 are 4-star and 32 are 3-star hotels. In the past three years, Belgrade has welcomed several international hotel chains: Crowne Plaza, Radisson Blu, Marriott, Accor, and with the beginning of the construction of the Hilton, W and Saint Regis hotels, the Serbian capital will definitely stand side by side with the world’s tourist metropolises”, Maljković pointed out.

“The Sheraton hotel, owned by the MK company, will open in Novi Sad by the end of the year, and in February 2018 in Belgrade, another 4-star hotel will be opened, as part of the Mama Shelter chain”, announced the secretary of the CCIS Association of Tourism.
