With a series of successful meetings with representatives of the European Commission, delegation the Foreign Investors Council (FIC) finalized its visit to Brussels, fourth in a row. Thus, the FIC continued to support the process of European integration of Serbia, being a reliable partner both to the Serbian Government and the European Union, as the business association which has such a particularly active and dual role in that process.

During a two day visit, FIC delegation met with representatives of 7 directorate generals of the European Commission: NEAR, ECFIN, TAXUD, EMPL, TRADE, CNECT, and SANTE. In addition, meetings with representatives of the European External Action Service (EEAS), CEFTA Secretariat, and European Parliament were held.

The delegation also met with the Serbian Ambassador to EU Ana Hrustanovic, while the Serbian Mission to EU organised a reception.

The delegation of the Foreign Investors Council pointed out to positive effects of conducted reforms and gave recommendations for further improvement of the business climate. Good macro-economic results were praised, stating that stronger economic growth required sustainable fiscal consolidation and progress in law implementation, especially in the tax area.

The FIC mentioned forming of the Task Force for implementation of the White Book recommendations, which was established jointly by the Government of Serbia and the FIC and conveyed expectations that it will lead to an acceleration of reforms. European institutions were encouraged to actively support Serbia because mutual collaboration is needed for bringing the Serbian market closer to EU rules and practices.

It was reiterated that the foreign investors gathered in FIC strongly support Serbia to continue negotiations with the EU as a way of improving business conditions and further inflow of investments. This will create benefits for all – the state, the existing and future investors, and above all Serbian citizens and the society as a whole.

Members of FIC delegation were: Executive Director Ana Firtel and chairmen of the following FIC committees: Anti-Illicit Trade Committee President Goran Pekez, Digitalisation&E-Commerce Committee President Jasmina Vignjević, HR Committee Vice President Jelena Marković and Telecommunications& IT Committee President  Marko Jović.
