Russian Ambassador Alexander Chepurin has expressed hope that the new Serbian government will be capable of accomplishing significant tasks related to the development of Russian-Serbian relations.
“Our starting point is that the future government will include people capable of two things: taking care of Serbia’s national interests and the welfare of Serbian citizens, and we also have full confidence about a statement by Serbia’s top officials that the ties with Russia should be strengthened in the spirit of strategic partnership,” Chepurin told the Belgrade Politika daily.
When asked if that means that Russia is holding Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to his word, Chepurin responded affirmatively.
What is important is that, first and foremost, Serbia itself is interested in accomplishing those tasks, in the economic, political and spiritual fields, Chepurin noted.
