An Algerian TV newsreader was sacked for saying the Algerian president’s name without saying “His Highness” before it.

According to al-Khaber newspaper, al-Herri was reading an article about the president’s meeting on national gas policy when he made the mistake that cost him his job.

A number of journalists and other presenters have expressed their solidarity with al-Herri, saying that his mistake was minimal and did not warrant the loss of his job. The newspaper also said that al-Herri was later appointed as news editor at “Canal Algerie” after being removed from his position as a newsreader.
