Founded and organised by Parallel Contemporary Art and Saatchi Gallery, START takes place across all three floors of Saatchi Gallery. It aims to introduce a young generation of galleries and artists to an international audience and provide an insight into the future of contemporary art. The fourth edition of START kicks off the London autumn arts season and takes place from 14 to 17 September 2017.
Featuring strong presentations from exhibitors all over the world, including Australia, Taiwan, Nigeria and Latvia, START also presents START Solo, featuring individual artist presentations. These include focused series of works from artists located in diverse regions, including India, Brazil and Russia to name a few.
In addition to these engaging exhibitors, START is delighted to partner with Mehta Bell Projects as the first curatorial partners of the fair. START and Mehta Bell Projects have revolutionised the conventional art fair format with an emphasis on curated projects and a more open and fluid layout.
Mehta Bell Projects present a series of curated exhibitions throughout START 2017, including exhibitions featuring some of the most engaging art practices from Korea and Vietnam.
Another of their key projects introduces esteemed Chinese artist Liu Bolin to the fair, presenting the very first live performance by the artist in an art fair context. Mehta Bell Projects also present a group exhibition ‘Totem: Sacred Beings and Spirit Objects’ to the fair, which investigates the spiritual in the everyday.
