The cultural event Celebrate Australia has been held at Belgrade City Hall, hosted by H.E. Julia Feeney, Ambassador of Australia to Serbia, and Belgrade City Manager Goran Vesić.
Milijana Nikolić, an opera singer of Australian-Serbian origin, performed at the event, while an exhibition of Aboriginal art was also staged.
Ambassador Feeney said that the diaspora is the best link between Serbia and Australia, noting that the Serbian diaspora in Australia is quite large.
“I think we have a lot more to do on the issue of investment and education in Serbia,” said Ambassador Feeney. Stressing that he was honoured to co-host the event, Belgrade City Manager Vesić said that Serbia and Australia are close and connected, despite being distant from one another geographically.
