The Polish Embassy in Serbia marked the 225th anniversary of the country’s first constitution, adopted in 1791, the first constitution ever in Europe and the second in the world, following the American.
The Polish Chargé d’Affaires, Ms Hanna Dalewska-Greń, hosted the reception with many guests in attendance, including representatives of the Serbian government, a diplomatic chorus, religious officials, media, cultural figures, scientists, business people and the Polish diaspora in Serbia.
The guests were able to view the Constitution of May exhibition, a reprint of the Constitution’s original manuscript and 18th Polish national dress.
The reception was accompanied by Frédéric Chopin’s ballads and mazurkas performed by Kristina Krstić and Galina Nikolin, winners of the Belgrade Chopin Festival.
