The Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection commemorated the International Day of Personal Data Protection with a conference that was attended by a large number of ambassadors and other members of the foreign diplomatic corps, representatives of local authorities and institutions, members of the academic community, NGOs and the media.

Alongside Commissioner Rodoljub Šabić, participants in the gathering were also addressed by H.E. Sem Fabrizi, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, H.E. Arne Sannes Bjørnstad, Norwegian Ambassador to Serbia, and H.E. Andrea Orizio, Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, who said “It is exemplary how the achievements of the Commissioner in the past decade have demonstrated local ownership, serving the interests of all citizens”.

The conference highlighted the results and main problems in the field of personal data protection in Serbia. The Commissioner assessed that it is essential to completely change the State’s attitude regarding the state of affairs in this area.

The conference also including the presenting of the publication “Protection of personal data in the field of labour relations – Views and opinions of the Commissioner”.
