On the occasion of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the independence of India, the Embassy of India in Belgrade organised a performance of famous Indian dancer Bharatanatyam Geeta Chandran at Opera & Theatre Madlenianum.

This exceptional artist skilfully perceives concepts of joy, beauty, values, aspirations, myths and spirituality in her performances.

Geeta Chandran is also the founder of the Natya Vriksha Dance Company, which is known for the high aesthetic quality of its group presentations.

In her endeavour to “dance through the universe”, she is highly involved in dance activities: performing, teaching, singing, organising, writing and promoting classical Indian dance with newer genres.

Promoting art in education is her passion, while she is particularly dedicated to educating young generations about the values that classical dance brings to life.
