Despite the changeable weather, more than 200 competitors came from all over the world to the little Vojvodina village of Mokrin near Kikinda during the Easter holidays to compete in the 27th World Championships in Egg Cracking.

The rules state that competitors must exclusively use painted chickens’ eggs, which is proven by the winner having to – after cracking the shell of their final opponent’s egg – eat half of the egg with which they competed, while the other half is eaten by the president of the jury.

The visitors who came from as many as eleven countries, including Sweden, Austria and New Zealand, enjoyed the hospitality of Banat locals and the traditional “leafed” Mokrin cheese.

After a long and tense struggle, the title of 2017 World Champion went to Mokrin local Sava Terzic.
